A flawless Fourth
LINWOOD – Hundreds of Linwood children came out on a perfect Independence Day Saturday, July Fourth for the bike parade and fire company open house.
The children were so anxious to start this year that some took off before Mayor Rick DePamphilis could lead the pack of children and parents that started at Poplar and Lincoln avenues. Some of the participants covered the parade loop in a matter of minutes either by bicycle, tricycle, wagon, scooter or on foot, while others took their time to enjoy the sunny morning with a slight breeze that made the day just about perfect.
Upon their return, the Linwood Historical Society had activities for the children such as coloring in a giant chalk drawing of the American flag. In between chowing down on hot dogs and taking turns trying out the company fire hose, they were amused by Freddie, a small talking fire engine.
