Port Republic Mayor Gary Giberson - well known decoy carver and collector - passed information from his grandfather's generation on to guests at the Absecon Historical Society Museum including those of his grandchildren's generation. Speaking Saturday, April 26, Giberson covered a wide range of topics about the Mullica River, hunting, fishing and the craft of decoy making. You always start with a drawing, he told Shelby Wessner, 10, of Egg Harbor Township. Then he borrowed a notepad and drew her a duck and signed it to her. He showed her some of the fine points of different decoys as part of the project. The drawing, she said, was framed the next day.
