Sirens welcome EHT officer, reservist back from Iraq

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – After seven months overseas, David Heritage, 38, reunited with his family Monday evening and not even the raindrops could spoil this parade.

The Egg Harbor Township police officer was greeted by family, friends, and fire engines with sirens and horns tooting as they guided the Delaware Air National Guard technical sergeant from the 166th Unit Security Forces Squad out of New Castle, Del. on the final leg of his journey home.

It was around Heritage’s birthday in the beginning of October that he left for his second tour of duty overseas. He left behind not only his parents and siblings, but also his girlfriend, Jennifer Ablett, and their 2-year-old daughter Leah Heritage.
