Firefighters put out a smoky house fire on West Jersey Avenue near Tremont Avenue. 

About 20 firefighters from Cardiff and Bargaintown responded to a house fire Monday afternoon. A passing motorist noticed smoke coming from an unoccupied home on West Jersey Avenue between Tremont and Ivans avenues about 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14 and contacted the Fire Department. 

The scene, which blocked off part of West Jersey Avenue westbound, was cleared by 3 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
