Drillbit Taylor Interview by student journalists
Drillbit Taylor Interview
Written by Alder Insider student journalists Ryan Jones and Megan Pickeral
We recently got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to interview the stars of the new upcoming movie “Drillbit Taylor.”
The movie is about three boys who get picked on in high school so they hire a budget bodyguard to help defend them, which as you know doesn’t always turn out to be the best option. We got to interview the main character Ryan, who is played by Troy Gentile; Wade, who is played by Nate Hartley; Emmit who is played by David Dorfman; and Filkins, who is played by none other than Alex Frost (who also starred in the movie “Elephant.”)
They gave us a lot of insight about the movie. Troy Gentile told us a few things about himself and the movie. He told us that he really enjoyed working with his co-stars Nate and David and everyone else on-set. He also said that his favorite part of the movie was the party scene where he beat up the bullies, Ronnie and Filkins. Another thing that he told us was that he has never really been bullied and that his advice for kids going into high school is to just be yourself and to have a personality. Troy told us was that he thought the plot of the movie is very funny, entertaining and is a great family film. Wow, it sounds to us like Troy really knows his movie!
Next, we interviewed the person who plays the role of Wade, Nate Hartley. We found out some interesting facts about him and his part in the movie. He told us that his favorite part of the movie was the kissing scene. He was supposed to kiss his co-star on the cheek but at the last minute the director told him that the kiss would be on the lips. He said was that he is really into magic and that his co-stars were like family to him. He said that Owen Wilson is one of his idols and he thinks that he is a comedic genius. Nate also said that he can really relate to his character, Wade, and that his best advice for kids going into high school is never give up. That seems like good advice to me!
After Nate, we interviewed the boy who plays Emmit, David Dorfman. There are a lot of things about him and the movie I bet you didn’t know about. One thing he told us was that he really enjoys reading and collecting maps. Isn’t that a really cool hobby? He also said that he had a great time playing the role of Emmit and that he and his co-stars really connected together and became very good friends. David also gave some great advice about going into high school. He said that you should just have fun during your high school years. His favorite part of the movie was when he got stuffed into his locker. One cool fact about him is that he played in a lot of horror movies as well. He starred in “The Ring” a few years ago. I guess he must be used to the whole movie experience by now.
Finally, after we interviewed David we finished our interview with the guy who plays the bully, Alex Frost. He said that he was extremely nervous going into the movie audition. Also, when he was 15 he starred in the movie “Elephant.” He would like to one day be a movie director, doctor or even a lawyer. Another thing that Alex told us is that he really enjoys reading and that he was good friends with his co-stars off-set. We are really thankful that we got the chance to interview those four very talented people. It was a great experience. Thank you Troy Gentile, Nate Hartley, David Dorfman and Alex Frost and everyone else onset. We think that you guys are doing a great job. Good luck with future projects!

Congratulations to the students and their advisor! My name is Theodore "Ted" Pugliese, and I am running for the Board of Education in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. As a professional educator, I see this as an opportunity to continue to serve our students and our township and to help EHT be the best it can be. As many of you know, I recently completed 10 years of service to our students at Egg Harbor Township High School. I was the assistant principal there for nearly 5 years, and I taught biology there for 5 years before that. Currently, I am the new principal at Middle Township High School in Cape May Court House. I met my wife Toni Ann in 1998, a month after coming to EHT, and we have been together ever since. She is a life long resident of EHT, and you may remember her as the local girl who played 'Molly' in the movie "Annie" with Carol Burnett. My wife continues to be a guest teacher at the High School, and she still sings at church on Sundays. We have 2 daughters. I graduated from Rowan University (MA) and the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (BS). Before college, I was in the Army, back during the first Gulf War. I would appreciate the opportunity to represent you, and I thank you in advance for your support. Please vote #2 Theodore Pugliese for Board of Education, April 15th.
