From Sands to dust

ATLANTIC CITY – The implosion of the Sands lit up a Boardwalk packed with people Thursday night who came to witness the first time a casino here has ever been reduced to a cloud of dust.
Pinnacle Entertainment Inc., which finalized acquisition of the Sands last year, demolished the building to make way for a new, as yet unnamed, casino hotel on the 25 acres of property.
The crowds of people filling the Boardwalk, beaches and streets Oct. 18 were treated to an amazing display of fireworks, music and explosives that culminated when the building came crashing down, reduced to a pile of rubble.
